چکیده

The solar corona is a very dynamic plasma on time scales down to a few tens of microseconds. The various emissions at decimetric wavelength are brieey reviewed. Several of them seem to be caused by energetic (non-thermal) electrons accelerated in ares or are-like processes releasing free magnetic energy. The use of decimetric radiation as diagnostics of the acceleration process, the ambient plasma and the non-thermal particles requires a solid understanding of the emission process. Although we are still far from this in most cases, some information can already be derived from the observations. The solar corona has become a scientiic problem of rst importance when W. Grotrian and B. Edl en suggested in 1939 that it consists of a thin plasma of some million degrees temperature. This unexpectedly high temperature is still an enigma today. It is one of the reasons why the solar corona will be a primary target of solar research in the coming years. Soft X-ray motion pictures show ceaseless variability in active regions. Loops brighten up and disappear within a few hours. About 1500 X-ray bright points light up per day in quiet regions and coronal holes. They consist of several parallel loops and have a mean lifetime of eight hours.

MHD oscillations in solar and stellar coronae: Current results and perspectives

Wave and oscillatory activity is observed with modern imaging and spectral instruments in the visible light, EUV, X-ray and radio bands in all parts of the solar corona. Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) wave theory gives satisfactory interpretation of these phenomena in terms of MHD modes of coronal structures. The paper reviews the current trends in the observational study of coronal oscillations, re...

Damping of visco-resistive Alfven waves in solar spicules

Interaction of Alfven waves with plasma inhomogeneity generates phase mixing which can cause the dissipation of Alfven waves. We investigated the dissipation of standing Alfven waves due to phase mixing at the presence of steady flow and sheared magnetic field in solar spicules. Moreover, the transition region between chromosphere and corona was considered. Our numerical simulation showed that ...

A Physical Mechanism for Self-Organization in Solar and Stellar Coronae: Theory and Observations

The existence of power law statistics in solar and stellar flares has prompted the suggestion that solar and stellar coronae are in a self-organized critical state, but the physical foundation of this theory is lacking. We present observational evidence from 107 flare events in 37 sun-like stars that solar and stellar coronae self-organize into a critical state set by a bifurcation in the dynam...

Do solar decimetric spikes originate in coronal X-ray sources?

Context. In the standard solar flare scenario, a large number of particles are accelerated in the corona. Nonthermal electrons emit both X-rays and radio waves. Thus, correlated signatures of the acceleration process are predicted at both wavelengths, coinciding either close to the footpoints of a magnetic loop or near the coronal X-ray source. Aims. We attempt to study the spatial connection b...

A Unified Picture of the FIP and Inverse FIP Effects

We discuss models for coronal abundance anomalies observed in the coronae of the sun and other late-type stars following a scenario first introduced by Schwadron, Fisk & Zurbuchen of the interaction of waves at loop footpoints with the partially neutral gas. Instead of considering wave heating of ions in this location, we explore the effects on the upper chromospheric plasma of the wave pondero...
